The iconic Red Ensign Badge proudly adorns the sleeve, symbolizing its British heritage and quality craftsmanship.
One of the unique features of this pullover is its utilization of natural lanolin. This natural attribute also enhances the longevity of the garment, making it a reliable companion for years to come.
Available in three timeless shades – Black Welsh, Light Grey Welsh, and Ecru – each color reflects the natural beauty of British wool, showcasing its rich heritage and versatility. The yarn used in crafting this pullover has been meticulously developed by our team, ensuring the highest quality and performance standards are met.
Also available in dyed colour Navy
As part of our commitment to sustainability, each purchase of the Grampain Oiled Wool Pullover comes with a complimentary 100% cotton bag. The “Black Welsh” color variant for the Grampian Oiled Wool Pullover exudes a sense of refined sophistication and versatile elegance. This deep, rich hue embodies an understated yet bold aesthetic, offering a timeless appeal that seamlessly integrates into various styles and occasions. Imagine a luxurious, deep black shade that carries an air of understated confidence. The Black Welsh color adds a touch of modernity to the classic design of the Grampian Oiled Wool Pullover, making it a versatile choice for both formal and casual settings.
Ecru is a beautifully versatile and subtle color that embodies understated elegance and sophistication. It’s a soft, off-white shade with hints of beige or light tan, reminiscent of unbleached or raw linen. The term “ecru” itself is derived from the French word for “raw” or “unbleached.” Imagine a hue that gracefully sits between white and beige, offering a delicate warmth that complements a wide array of skin tones and clothing styles. Ecru carries a natural, organic essence, exuding a sense of purity and simplicity that resonates with classic and contemporary tastes alike.
To maintain freshness, simply hang the pullover on a hanger between wearing. For those sensitive to the natural lanolin scent, hand washing with fabric softener can help diminish the aroma while enhancing the garment’s softness. Experience the excellence and warmth of the Grampain Oiled Wool Pullover, a fusion of traditional British craftsmanship, sustainable materials, and innovative design. Embrace the natural beauty and functional comfort of this pullover, backed by Outdoor Knitwear’s commitment to durability and repair, ensuring a lifetime of quality wear.

The best jumper I have ever owned!
This is, by far, the best woollen jumper I have ever owned. My expectations were quite high, as I have eyed a similar one from another brand, and was very happy to see that Outdoor Knitwear had made one. It is fantastic. The knit is thick and feels like top quality. The smell is amazing (if you like how a sheep smells, and most of us buying woollen garments do), it reminds me of my childhood. I’ve already got a classic submariner from OKW but now I’m looking forward to wear this one as much as possible during the winter!

Great Product from a Great Company
When I bought this lovely oiled wood pullover, it was the product itself that attracted me. And when it arrived, it was nothing short of beautiful! But I soon realised that it’s not just the product that is great; Outdoor Knitwear offer a personal service that has quality and care at its heart. A great product is important, but even more important is know that if there’s anything you need to ask, or query, you’ll get great personal service in a very timely manner.

Great Warm Sweater
Perfect for the cold days and love the thumb holes to keep my hands warm !

Chunky and warm sweater
This sweater is great. Nice and thick making it really warm. Has a nice natural Lanolin smell, and deals well with light rain or brief exposure to more heavy precipitation. Looks good as well!
Be warned, the roll neck took a bit of getting used to, but it does help the warmth.

Great Chunky and warm sweater.
This is an excellent sweater. Nice and thick, making it warm. It has a strong natural Lanolin smell, and does have a bit of scratchy Ness to it, but it’s not too bad. The Lanolin helps it deal with light rain, or brief periods in even heavier precipitation. I also think it looks pretty good, so that’s a bonus!

Superb sweater
I have been looking at buying a Beerenberg type sweater for quite some time. When Outdoor Knitwear recently introduced these sweaters into their range I had to buy one, particularly as the price was attractive. When the sweater arrived I couldn’t have been happier. It is a really substantial garment. I can be sure that when I venture out on a cold day this will keep me warm with the added benefit of not having to wear a coat if the weather threatens a shower. The fit is good too. I fall between medium and large sizes. I went for the large size as I don’t like sweaters being too tight. The fit on me is just right – not tight but not massive. Also the neck is not too baggy as I have seen on some Beerenberg sweaters. Ultimately I’m really impressed, so much so I’ll have to buy another in a different colour.

As good as it gets
A mate of mine bought this jumper from Arthur Beale and payed twice as much for it. I bought this jumper from here and paid half as much for it.
His jumper has a garish ‘AB’ logo sewn on the sleeve. My jumper has a discreet and appropriate Red Ensign on the sleeve.
His jumper came in a plastic bag. My jumper came in a lovely cotton drawstring bag with a compass rose design on it.
My mate was delighted with his jumper. Can you imagine how delighted I am with mine.
Awesome quality, service, price, experience.
Not my first purchase from Outdoor Knitwear, and certainly not my last.

Fantastic Jumper
I have a few outdoor knitwear Submariner pullovers in various colours and when I saw this new product I had to try it. Absolutely delighted with it, great fit and I know it will be toasty on my winter dog walks. Bring on the cold!

Really heavy and functional
Really heavy and functional. Lovely to wear and to feel how weatherproof it is.
I’ve already got 2 submariners, this is a grade heavier and warmer than them.
Top fan of Outdoor Knitwear.

Fabulous Pullover
I’m so happy that I decided to try the Black Welsh option – what a fantastic winter pullover this is – chunky, great fit, and fantastic for the winter season. I’ll probably buy another in a different colour now I know just how good these are. Thanks!

Simply outstanding
I’m serious about keeping warm, environmentally conscious, and enjoy high quality clothing. This garment ticks so many boxes. This is a really solid jumper, very well made, very warm, looks good, and well priced. I am 100% happy with this purchase. My only issue, and it’s me not the garment, I have longer than standard arms, but with the thumb cuff extended it fits me like a standard cuff. I’m so happy with my beerenburg, I will definitely buy this brand again and recommend to all

I bought a Black Welsh….. First
I wasn’t disappointed. These Gansey’s are amazingly warm. Then I put on my big boy pants & pulled the trigger on the Ecru. (fear of tomato sauce down the front issues) Now I’m asked things by other blokes in the pub that go “I like Y’ jumper, where did you get it?”

I bought a Black Welsh size L.
This pullover is the dog’s twitcher! Propper heavyweight. The large is close fitting on me and the way it should be, I’m 6″ & 14ish stone. Maybe a bit too heavyweight as it fills all the space in my Sheepskin flying jacket that I bought it to wear with. May have to work on being 13ish stone in the near future. In summary, all the pullover you will ever need, so I’m going to get another.

The Ultimate Gansey
Despatch amd delivery was super quick. When I got the package it was that heavy I thought they sent me 2 by mistake. It is extremely thick and heavy and very well made. It will last for years and years. I got a 2xl for a 48″ chest and it fits perfectly. Customer service over the phone was top notch at answering my queries a out the sizing. I will be buying another one in the new year in the Black Mountain colour and dare say I will never have to buy anymore winter jumpers for the rest of my life.

Brilliant
Really excellent, well made jumper. Very high quality indeed. The kind of jumper that you’d hope you’d find one day and now you have . With the black Friday discount, unbelievable value

The warmest jumper. I have ever owned
this superbly made jumper weighs in at over a kg and, no matter what the temperature is first thing in the morning, pulling it on is like having a big warm hug. I’m a 42–44in chest and the medium was a bit too tight for me, but the large was really comfortable. Customer services were brilliant and the cotton drawstring bag it comes in is a nice touch that helps store the jumper. I’m now dropping hints that I want an Olympic sweater for Christmas

Cozy Comfort for Outdoor Adventures
I can’t stop raving about this pullover!! It’s like wearing a warm hug made of 100% Wool. The thumb holes are genius – not just for warmth but for that snug, ‘stay-put’ feeling. Plus, the little Red Ensign Badge adds a cool touch. What blew my mind is how it stays dry even when it’s misty out – thanks to the lanolin magic! Sure, it’s an investment, but this pullover isn’t just a piece of clothing. It’s a companion for all your wild ventures. Trust me, once you’ve worn this, you won’t settle for anything less.

Mr
WOW..! I’m literally blown away with the quality, style, fit and feel of this sweater!!!! I trawled (!) lots of sites looking for a heavy roll neck. Some were three times the price so I took a punt (!) with this (Beerenberg oiled wool in Black Welsh) and I couldn’t be happier! I also bought my sons sweaters for Christmas (Erebus Boat neck light grey Welsh and Dover crew neck in Ecru/Navy).. son #1’s reaction: ‘This jumper is exquisite!’. They look GREAT! The quality is honestly second to none, it’s a serious piece of kit I’m pretty much using it as a coat. High praise to Megan in Customer Service also for remedying a delivery problem quickly and with a friendly can-do attitude (rare!). Absolutely can’t recommend their products or service enough! Thank you and Happy New Year!

Excellent fit
A little bit worried about spending so much without trying on but after being measured a few times decided to order, and I am so glad I did. The quality of the jumper is superb I’ve looked a barbour jumper and there not a patch on these, from ordering to delivery was first class and even comes in a nice little tote bag for storage .Will definitely recommend to others

Unbeatable Value
I have seen similar sweaters online but decided to go for this one when recommended from a friend who had bought from both. I cant see any difference between the two except for the badge with this being almost half the price i am very pleased i bought this one.

honest review
I can now give an honest review having owned one of these jumpers for a year now. Whenever it is cold, inside or out I reach for my black Welsh Grampian pullover. These natural fibre oiled jumpers breathe so you don’t get too hot despite its ability to keep you warm. It is perfect for under my leather jacket when out on one of my classic bikes, it keeps my neck warm and is comfortable but not “scratchy” it is cozy. I can be comfortable wearing it in my home with the heating off when I would otherwise have it on, in my shed pottering around or walking the dog it just does exactly what I want it to do. It keeps me warm and comfortable. I love that it still has that faint oiled wool smell and is so comfortable to wear. It’s just one of those things that makes me feel good whenever I wear it. Go on, treat yourself, you won’t regret it.

A Proper Outdoor Jumper
Rollable neck and sleeves make a surprisingly adjustable outer layer for misty/drizzly/cool and changeable weather, and a very warm mid layer when it’s really bleak. Surprisingly water and wind resistant, stays warm when damp, and very breathable. It does smell a little… sheepy… thanks to the lanolin, but you get used to that quite quickly, and it beats smelling sweaty after a hike in synthetic layers. Overkill for most everyday situations, but if you’re going to be outside all day in autumn/winter and don’t want to have to keep changing clothes as the weather changes, this is the tool for the job. This has completely replaced my technical mid-layer fleeces and packable waterproof. Would buy another one tomorrow, but I only really need one. Note the fit is more generous than the standard wooly pully – plenty of room to layer up, no draughts up your back, and good length on the sleeves. 10/10

Superb Jumper
A great jumper, thick and warm. It feels ready for anything the weather can throw at it.

Genuine quality like you used to get
The weight, warmth and quality is fantastic. Fits nice and snug, and the collar and cuffs feel good. Looks great in ecru and even managed to get it on a black Friday sale. Very very happy.

Top quality jumper and remarkable customer service
I can only continue the glowing feedback for this product and this company. Ordering and delivery were smooth and efficient and the Grampian oiled wool jumper (in black welsh wool) is top quality and a superb price. I’m around 5ft 7″, 37″ chest, 9.8 stone and the size small fits me really well, not too tight, not too baggy. I could only repeat what other reviewers have said. The jumper is very well made, heavy weight, and the black welsh wool is a lovely grey brown colour. Perhaps you could say it’s slightly itchy on bare arms (not so much the neck feeling itchy for me) but it’s really not uncomfortable at all. If you are used to jumpers over a t-shirt it’s just fine. I had occasion to email TW Kempton customer service and Neil was prompt, very friendly and knowledgeable. One remarkable fact he shared is that TW Kempton offer a lifetime repair service free of charge on their knitwear should you gets snags or faults. You cannot say that about many companies and their products these days. Buy with confidence, like everyone says you will not regret it.

Outstanding Quality
Quality worth every penny. Your loss if you don’t buy one

Outstanding British made pullover
This is the second jumper I have bought from Outdoor Knitwear. Quality is outstanding value. I have been eyeing up the Grampian pullover for some time. Had a look at a well known different brand, which is 50% more expensive. Pulled the trigger on the Grampian pullover instead and I am not disappointed with the quality! The roll neck is not scratchy at all and the fit is perfect. I am a 42” inch chest. 5ft 8 inches and normally go for size L, but the size M is snug but still have total freedom of movement. This is built to last many many years!

Grampian Black Welsh (Beerenberg)
In ’23 I left a review for the Light Grey and said I’d treat myself to Black Welsh. And I did last Autumn. Again the same superior quality of craftsmanship and detail. These really are the the ultimate jumper to own, they are affordable, thy keep you warm well me anyway when it was -2 and all I had over it was a Barbour Westmorland (sleeveless) jacket on in the depths of winter. The extra long sleeves with the thumb loops are not a gimmick, they keep the hands warm and the material that surrounds the loop won’t stretch or distort. In light rain it will keep you dry and warm as the wool is thick and has a natural water resistant barrier thanks to the lanolin which remains in the wool. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I love the smell of the lanolin, it’s natural and is a reminder that I’ll not be cold. I have had 4 orders with O.K. and can safely say I will never ever buy jumpers from anywhere else. And last thing, they’re made in the UK so you’re supporting local farmers. Get one now is all I can say and it will last you a lifetime.
